GO Simon

A photojournalist with a mission, Simon Go dedicates to documentary and fine-art photography over the last 11 years since he graduated from the School of Design of Polytechnic University in 1989. Go's acute sensibility to social and poverty issues in Hong Kong is strongly reflected in a number of documentary and art photography group exhibition projects.

Among those, 'Caged-people' photo exhibition (1995) featuring the plight of tenants living in cramped bedspace units, commonly called 'Cagehomes' ; and 'Poverty in Urban Poor' (1997). Both exhibitions were held at Hong Kong Arts Centre and have aroused local and overseas media reportage. 'Caged-people photo works had also been exhibited in the tour exhibitions of Contemporary Asian Art by the Anderson Gallery, School of the Arts, Virginia Commonwealth University in U.S.A.

Apart from a penetrating eye on social issues, Go has sentimental indulgence in collecting and preserving memorabilia and traditional packaging utensils in Hong Kong and Southern China. Chinese medicine packaging is among one of his varieties of collectibles and design culture research projects.
